GPU needs to be forced into my machine to be able to screw it in, HELP!

Hello, I was upgrading my old PC yesterday by removing an old AM3 asus mobo and my Phenom II X4 955, with a Gigabyte Z87 -D3HP, and an Intel I5 4670K in my Antec 900 case. I got these installed and running correctly, and my ram as well. The mobo aligns perfectly with the I/O shield, and the mobo is mounted in with the correct standoff positions. When I try to fit my GTX 560 GPU into my computer, I'm having a problem though. The gpu fits into the mobo and "clicks" in tightly. But the metal bracket you screw into the back of the case was off by 1-2MM. I remember having a problem like this (but less severe) with my old mobo, and I bent the back of my case with 1 hand, while screwing in the GPU with the other, and I could not see the mobo move. It booted fine, took the drivers, and now is running.

My question is: Is this bad to very slightly bend the little metal bracket from the gpu to fit it into the case (I could see it ever so slightly bending the GPU's metal bracket, the PCB seemed to remain perfectly in tact though, and I've ran my PC for about an hour yesterday hooked up to my GPU) and do you think my case could possibly randomly bend back outward, which could potentially pull my gpu, and ruin this as well as my motherboard, or am I just paranoid? This happens whether I plug it into the X16, or X4 slot.

All help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

i would do a search on your case and see if this is a common issue. could you just loosen the screws a little bit and not have them screwed all of the way down. these are just for vertical support so as long as it keeps your card from sagging you should be fine.

I'll do a search now thanks. But this is what I had in mind while screwing my card in; if i let it only screw in finger tight, the board seems to have (nearly invisble to the human eye) bend in it, and when I tried to wiggle it gently, it had very little play room (as it did on my previous build which worked fine). when I started to use the screwdriver to tighten it any further, I could actually notice the card start to bend and get stressed (it was easily visible to the eye), and I immediately stopped, and returned it to the seemingly secure, but not tight fit.

ALSO: there are supposed to be 2 screws that go into it, but I only was able to fit one in (the one that goes completely in the hole, not the one that's used for the metal placeholder plate things)

not bending that board is a great idea. many would just tighten down anyways. you could always try and find a rubber washer or a longer screw then just trim that screw down to length. If it is a two slot graphics card then you will have a second screw that could go in. lastly there is always the tried and true zip tie. while these are not ideal they are a great way to give support without threat of overtightening.

good luck and come back if you need any further assistance.
