GPU fan goes mad, monitor shuts down

Hey, my gpu is broken i guess, after 10 minutes of using the pc it shuts down the monitor and fan goes mad. I know the gpu is the problem and it doesn't overheat. Can i do anything to find the souce of the problem and try to fix it myself?

gpu temperature is 30 degrees celsius, cpu is 35 and 41 on 2 cores, so i think it's fine, all fans are working fine before the shut down.

well right now i've put a very much older card radeon 2400 i think, and if i try to install 13.10 catalyst driver my pc won't work, i get a blue screen because drivers are wrong and i have to restore the pc, and if i put the newer card i don't have time to install anything. Also if i try installing on this older card, the installation stops on the middle, so i can't instal on old and then put the new card :\ do you know if i can somehow check the log why my pc crashed?
