Welcome,
today I got my new drive which is WD40EFRX, sadly, I have found out this drive has problems with increasing Load Cycle count. In first minute it increaded by 20, where my old WD after 5 years got around 300. I disabled this with WdIdle3 2.0.0.1 tool.

My question is - is it better to leave it completly disabled or to set higher value?

Solution
If you keep it off doesn't that void the warranty?

Mine have 1700 hours with LCC of 700 already

the drive is rated for 600,000 cycles, right? well, the first few are from setting it up, no big deal. if you use up 300 cycles each and every day, you'll be good for around 5 years. I wouldn't worry about it too much. eventually you'll buy a larger drive anyways.

I've had mine for a few weeks now, so when I get home i'll check the cycles, but I doubt it's gone more than 500.

Thanks for answer, well, I did not start setting it up yet, just connected to pc.
Also I read that this series (4TB or old WD green hhds) have problem with it. Anyway, I am interested in if disabling it is perfectly safe, the pc is on still table and will not be shaked or anything - I am just wondering if it's better to set to slower cycles or just leaving it disabled is fine. (mostly I am worried about power loss if it would have any bigger effect on hard drive)

EFRX is Red, not Green. Red is rated for 600k, Green for 300k. but in either case, I guess if WDIdle tweak makes you feel less worried, then go with it. personally, I left both of mine with whatever factory setting was there.

anyhoo, i'll post my Red & Green stats in a few hours...

so here's my SMART stats, from my 2TB Red and 4TB Green:

2TB Red (WD20EFRX) - PowerOn time = 15 days / StartStop count = 92 <<=== this is my normal docs stuff
4TB Green (WD40EZRX) - PowerOn time = 11 days / StartStop count = 52 <<=== this is movies, music, pics
750G Black (WD7500BPKT) - PowerOn time = 15 days / StartStop count = 19 <<=== this is my OS drive

both drives stock, no firmware updates or tweaks.

hmm... maybe in 3 months, i can revisit this thread and post updated figures for those drives.

Thanks you for your contribution - I know it's red, just I noticed unusual increase of this value.
On WD forums and around the Internet there are information that 4TB version having this problem (2TB or 3TB are fine). I have my old WD hard drives and even after all these yers their value is around 300-400 as I mentioned before.
I was really worried about this ,but if keeping it disabled creates no danger I will keep it that way. Just wanted to be sure. I saw on WD forums somewhere there are complains about this so I guess it is not something *that* normal.

Anyway, thank you very much for your input. I wish you a great time good sir.
