Is this a typical rate of failure?

Granted I do not have as long a history of GPU ownership as some of you but I've had a 100% problem rate with the GPU's I've owned. Is that typical or do I just have terrible luck?

2 XFX 6870's rmad 2 times for fan issues and 1 time for DOA.
1 ASUS CUii 780 rmad for artifacting 1 and a half months after purchase.

Rather atypical I would say. I've not had a video card die on me yet, and we are talking like twenty years...

Might start looking at other factors. Overclocking? Do you have adequate cooling/ventilation? Properly installed with no stress on the graphics card/motherboard? Proper voltage supply (not too high or too low, within ATX spec)?

Most fans are only designed for a MTBF(mean time between failures) of 10,000 hours, basically a year of continuous use. Usually fans last longer, but it depends on conditions. (If it is higher then that, they usually make it a selling point)

Receiving a card back from RMA is problematic. Sometimes they send you a new card, most times it is refurbished, other times they will send the same card back...

There is always some risk in buying new products, you never know when you will get a lemon.

Understandable, ironically I never overclocked any of those cards till after the RMAs then they work great. Also to be clear they have never died per say just had fan bearings grind or in the case of the 780 render everything as a discoball. Thanks
