My son is looking to build a gaming pc.
His prospective components list is as follows:
i5-4670k
Asus maximus VI hero
Zotac Geforce GTX 760 2GB
Seagate 2TB hd
Asus VS247H-P 23.6" monitor
Gigabyte Osmium keyboard
Windows 7 home premium

He has no idea about a suitable psu.
Any opinions on what to change or improve for a good gaming set up?

That build is perfectly fine the 600W power supply XFX or Seasonic suggestion is a good one. That should be a pretty good computer for years to come. I'd add 8gb of 2400 MHz memory (preferably 2400 cl 9 gskill Tridents) and enjoy the hell out of it.

xfx or seasonic psu @600w. change the i5 and maximus VI hero to a amd 8320 and motherboard + a decent cpu cooler and a r9 280x instead of the gtx 760. all this will result in more performance for the same price

Can I know how much the 2TB hard drive will be costing you? Also, you forgot about RAM. PSU, I personally recommend Corsair brands just because I own them in the past and currently. 600w should be good but doesn't hurt to go bit higher.
