Hey everyone. I have an Athlon II X3 455 and I'd wanna buy a HD 7870, but i think it will bottleneck, so I could buy a HD 7790. Which do you think is better: HD 7790 or HD 7870. I wanna play BF3, BF4, Crysis and other games on medium or high qualities. Thanks.

Yeah, you're looking more around a whole system upgrade ( at least CPU, mboard, and GPU. ) I mean, you could get the 7870 now for a little extra oomph and then keep it after you replace the CPU. But you won't see as much gaming improvement as you would like to see. I don't like buying something with the idea of replacing it really soon, so I don't like the idea of getting a 7770/90 right now only to get the 7870 a little later.

That athlon is a good budget cpu, I had a 440 but right now it just won´t cut it, the one that I had was with a hd 6850 I think thats the max it will handle.

When I changed my gpu for hd 7870 Oc and then the cpu for a fx 6300 I did notice that the athlon was pulling back seriously the gpu so get the hd 7870 just if you´re planning to upgrade the cpu for something like the fx 6300 or better or stick with a hd 7770 or knowing that your build is having a noticeable bottleneck.

I say for it. Will it be bottlenecked by the cpu yeah ... will you see a noticable improvement, yeah. I have a 455 with a 7870 and it's a very noticeable improvement from the 6850 I had on there. Is it being held back, yes. I had a 7950 with a 3570k so I know what these cards can do. I'm gonna be getting an fx6300 or 8320 soon so I'm not worried about the bottleneck I have. Get it now and upgrade cpu mobo later.
