Hi All, I didn't check properly and now i end up with two set of different ram. One is KVR800D2N5 (2 x 2G) and another set is KVR800D2N6 (2 x 2G).
Will this be an issues? After searching thru the internet, i know now you should not mix ram with different legacy/timing and if you do, need to go BIOS and adjust to the lowest timing and legacy setting? I run memtest and it pass, so not sure if I should still be worry about this. I tried to go BIOS to adjust the setting, but there are just too much that i didnt know which to choose for.
Any suggestion? Currently i am just setting the timing as all AUTO, below just the screen shot to show what setting available, was trying to setup earlier but don't know the rest of the setting. CPUZ show current setting when set at AUTO under BIOS Timing.
Thanks

Its running in dual channel right now just look on the memory tab of CPU-Z that is one of the more useful things in it (in addition to ensureing your bios changes held after the reset) However it isn't running at 400 MHz (ddr 800) at the current time, you could bump it to 800 MHz and try 6-6-6 18 timings, (could try the 5-5-5-15, but one stick isn't rated for that speed)

First thing don't mix the sticks like that (on most motherboards) you want the same sticks in slots 1/3 and 2/4(same kits put in same colored slots) not slot 1/2 and 3/4 Judging by your CPU Z screenshot, your best bet to make the system work would be set it to 400 (or 800 depending on how your board displays it) and run them at 6-6-6-18 timings with 1.8v. (you have to run at the slower times to increase odds they work together on timings bigger numbers are worse)

Hi,

The only difference is the timing on @ cl 5 and the other @cl 6.
The speed and voltage are the same.

If your computer runs fine, I would not touch anything. I think it should work so long you pair them together.
I think you loose dual channel though since they are not the same.

If you get hangs and BSOD, it might be because of the timing differences.

I went to have a quick look at the user manual, this is what it stated
Channel A - DIMM_A1 and DIMM_A2 (First left yellow and Second Black)
Channel B - DIMM_B1 and DIMM_B2 (Third Yellow and Forth Black)

So does that means i have been putting the wrong slot for the initial 4GB Ram in the last 7 years :??:
If the ram have to be put in the same colour on the board why is the manual show channel A in different colour... weird...or did i miss something here??
