Hey guys i'm new here and would love some help with this problem. I went out and bought myself a DVI (Male) to HDMI(female) adaptor for my computer monitor to set up my ps3 to it. Well when I set everything up an error message popped up reading: "Cannot Display This Video Mode. Optimum resolution 1280x1024 60Hz" So I went back into my Ps3 display settings and changed the resolution to 720, then plugged it back up to my monitor. As I turned it on I didn't get the error message i received running a 1080p resolution earlier. Instead I was given a blank screen with nothing on it. Is there anything I can do to hook up my Ps3 system to my monitor with out having to go out and buying a better quality computer monitor?
Thanks for the help in advanced guys.

You didn't say what your Monitor resolution was set at. It should be set to 720 for the PS3.

My monitor resolution is set at 1280x1024 will it still need to be at 720 for the ps3?

Yep, that resolution is outside of the PS3 range.

I'm sorry to reply again, but it seems like I cant put it to 720. The lowest I could put it on was 800x600 and it still didnt work. So its best I should just go buy a better monitor?

Okay i just found the 1280x720, it didn't work either. It seems like i just need a new monitor with a HDMI input. Thank you for your help though :)  I really appreciate it!

That would have been my next suggestion. I have mine running to a 42" HDTV by HDMI.

Ahhh. Yeah, I think you need a moniter with HDMI, Those adapters don't work for some reason or at least that I've seen.
