Hello, newbie here to this awesome website and to the world of pc gaming. I have only built two systems and i bought a third one off craigslist for cheap, since i have most of the parts to build another system with the ones i already have id like to spend around $400 dollars on the best overclockable parts in the money/performance ratio with no bottlenecks.

here is a list of both of the systems i have :

----system 1:

-AMD A6 3670K Quad-Core Processor

-8GB Cosair Vengeance DDR3 Memory PC-16000

-XFX Radeon 2GB R6670 Graphics Card

-GIGABYTE A55M-DS2 Motherboard

-OCZ 600W ModXstream-Pro Power Supply

-Cosair H40 Liquid Cooling System

-Thermaltake V3 Black AMD Edition Mid-Tower Computer Case

-Asus Dual Layer DVD/CD Burner

-500GB Seagate Hard drive

----Duncan's b. System 2:

Intel Core i3-3220 CPU

MSI B75MA-P45 Motherboard

EVGA GTX 650 Ti Graphics Card

8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM

1 TB Western Digital Caviar Blue Hard Drive

430W Corsair CX430 Power Supply

NZXT Source 220 Case

Thanks for your help and advice in advance.

As with the other people, an i5-3570k is your best bet for a CPU that is overclockable. A new cooler wouldn't hurt especially if you are trying to get a good overclock because the H40 doesn't have the cooling power you will need if you OC high enough. If you plan on only using one of the computers, I would also suggest moving all of the RAM into one build. Get an SSD or another 1TB HDD to use in RAID with the other. This will increase IO speeds by a decent amount. I currently am using the Samsung 840 Pro 128GB. By far the best upgrade I've done with my computer.

You do have most of the components that you need. I would select an I5-3570K CPU. I would select an 120gb SSD, perhaps a Samsung 840. And lastly, I would select a new CPU cooler of your choice. Those three new items plus your spare parts should meet your requirements.

Either would be a great option, but I'm not going to answer you correctly because I am a bit more biased towards NVIDIA. Despite my bias, I still think the 650 ti boost is your best bet. Have fun, and good luck!

The GTX 650 Ti Boost would be my choice at the $150 mark. For a little more, the Radeon R7 270 is also a good choice. The Radeon 7770 looses out to to the GTX 650 Ti Boost.
