Hello,
I have been battling a pesky wifi issue at my in laws for the better part of 3 months and need some help. I set them up with a Denon 1613 receiver that includes audio Apple Airplay. They used to have an old Linksys B speed wifi router that I advised they upgrade anyway. They now have a Netgear R6300 and connected in the center of the house at their modem and PC. About 10 feet away including 1 wall sits their entertainment system which includes the Denon. Their house layout does not allow for a wired connection so I first set up a wireless bridge using an old WRT54G from Linksys I had laying around and it worked well (but with same issue below). I now have gotten them a dedicated access point off Newegg that I cannot remember the name of but it is N speed, although its not fancy it was the best reviewed one for ~$40. This also connects once set up and it works. (This was so easy to set up!)

My issue is, on my father in laws iPhone connecting to his Airplay is on and off pretty bad. He can play 1-2 songs tops before it stops playing. We have gone from blaming the wifi to blaming the iPhone to back to blaming the wifi. We reset his iPhone and it gave us an extra song before losing connection. (This also skips the same way with Spotify as it does with his iTunes music on phone).

I do not believe it is his iPhone any more because I downloaded a great little app for my Android phone (called AirAudio) that connects to the Airplay and while I could play full songs indefinitely it skips, the same type of skipping if you are watching something online and you're buffering a video just enough so that it plays a second pauses a second plays a second.... etc. So it is no better than the iPhone which is why I am looking back over the wifi.

With a small home, a lack of wifi gadgets in the house and close proximity for the iPhone/Denon/Netgear I am wondering if there is anything that I can change in the Netgear to boost its speed and coverage? I dl an app on my Android a few months ago to test wifi gain and it was rather low, I can't remember how many db but it wasn't as strong as it is at my house further from my router. Why!?! This Netgear is far stronger/faster than my own router yet I think it is the cause of all of this trouble. (Next time I am over I will be testing again.)

I have it set up for 2.4ghz and 5ghz and I think its set up pretty much standard. The access point shouldn't be the issue since its fast, and we connect the iPhone and my Android to the Netgear. The access point isn't losing connection, our phones are. ALSO EDIT: Their PC which is wired into 6300 and wirelessly streams to Airplay through iTunes does not have any issues and is actually how they play music now. Its basic cable internet but I don't see any issues playing youtube or downloading songs on it.

I will be over there in the next few days to tinker more. I was asking today so I can have a few things to try before I go over. The kicker is that since I showed him all these glorious wireless things like Airplay Spotify the Denon receiver app he is so hooked now he and I are pulling our hair out trying to get to the bottom of this.

Sorry for long read but wanted to give background info.

Solution
It is the closest thing I can think of, since the only thing affected on my 15Mbits connection is my mediaplex app when streaming movies from the web to my TV.

I didn't think to check that, its basic Road Runner cable so it can't be too bad.

Unfortunately I forgot to put it original post that the PC that is connected to the Router and therefore also the Denon can stream the iTunes music stored on it 24/7 with no issues apparently. The in laws stream their music this way but want to get the iPhone to do the work while they are in the living room/ or on the deck.

I see what you are saying, I wish I was there now to run a test. But if the iPhone disconnects from Airplay while playing a song already on the device it shouldn't have anything to do with the Road Runner. Trust me this gives me another thing to look at so I appreciate the guess.
