Recently built a new computer but the internet won't work even when connected with an Ethernet cable. I know that the modem is working because my other computers net is completely functional. I know that the Ethernet cable works becuase it was working literally thirty minutes Before I finished the build.

When I plug in the cable to the desktop I noticed a stable orange light and a blinking green light. I don't know if this is relevant but just something I think has to so with this.

My new build is composed of:
Asus z87-a mobo
Evga GeForce gtx 550 ti
Intel 530 series 180gb ssd
1tb wd caviar blue hdd
Intel i5 haswell 4670
2x4gb gskillripjaws series 1600

PLEASE HELP!

Maybe you don't have the drivers for your motherboard. Download the drivers from another computer and copy them over using a USB

Or it could be that your mobo is bad.

start with the simple stuff...make sure the port turned on in the bios. then install the intel chipset drivers and then the network drivers from the cd. make sure on hard wire line your not plugged into the wan port on the router. on wifi make sure you can see your network and you put in the right password. under network make sure ip4 and or ip6 has been installed and the other client for microsoft networks is installed. under network devices make sure dns and ip are set to auto and not a fixed number.
