So I have and computer with a:

Motherboard: Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
CPU: AMD PHENOM IIX4 945
OS: WINDOWS 7 PRO X64 SP1
HHD 2TB
RAM: 4GB(2x2gb) GSKILL DDR3 1333 10600
VIDEO CARD: AMD RADEON 7700

I decided to upgrade my OS to win 8.1, my storage to a 128gb ssd and 2tb hhd. And add more ram I bought PNY DDR3 1333 10666 (2x8gb)

Everything I read says that the ram should be compatible with my current ram or at least my motherboard

I reset my CMOS by pulling the battery. I install my ram (old and new) and I don't make it to BIOS.
I try only the new ram and get the same. I try one stick of the new ram at a time and get the same. I use the old ram only and boot just fine. I dont know what to do from this point is this ram DOA

Solution
do you have the newest bios file on the mb to rule out missing memory code??
M4A785TD-V EVO BIOS 2105
Fix the issue that system may be unable to boot from SATA ODD, when onboard RAID is enabled.
is the ram non ecc ram??? if it server ram most retail mb dont like it.
if the bios file is updated then you found a set of ram your mb does not like.
