hey guys, i dont know much about GPUs but i need a powerful gpu for video editing, with gpu accelerated effects, and some 3D modeling done in Cinema 4D. I am trying to decide on either the Quadro K4000 or the GTX 780. I know the quadro is better for media production, but i am on a budget. So really what i want to know is is the performance of the k4000 really so much better than the 780 for editing enough to justify the higher price?

Actually they don't have pathetic game performance and tom's did an article about it. It may look bad but if you compare specs to geforce counterparts they aren't far off. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/workstation-graphics-card-gaming,3425.html

What software are you using? And can you get any more specific on the workload? You can find benchmarks for many suites right here on tom's charts otherwise try google. http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/workstation-graphics-2013/benchmarks,146.html

Quadro are mainly workstation or designing cards used for cad, engineering etc.quadro suck n have pathethic gaming performance. While its true nvidia cuda cores help in designing, gtx can be used for entertainment n designing purposes. Question now is how much u willing to spend nif ur going for a quadro why not go for the 780ti card. Remember that quadro are mainlybwork oriented n deir drivers are optimized for cad and etc. Whereas gtx are mainly gaming, , entertainment, desiging on a small scale.
