my security cameras are wired ip cameras, but i want to install them 300 ft from the router. the cameras say they can be no further than 200 ft from the router. can i extend them by adding in an additional router 150 ft down the line from the first router? will that make any difference?

Solution
Ethernet standards say the maximum cable length is 100 metres. The 200 ft specification seems a little conservative, but 300 ft is n the borderline. You need an active device half-way along to extend the range. Not a router, a simple switch will suffice; obviously you need a source of power for the switch.

An alternative would be to use powerline adapters if there are power sockets at each end.
