Hey guys I'm back, lucky you ;-)

After following a few links and doing some more reasearch I've decided to get either an intel i5 4440 or an AMD FX-8320 and I've priced up the following 2 builds on pcpartpicker

Intel Build:

CPU Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core £133.53
Motherboard MSI B85-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 £58.62
Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 £59.99
Total Cost: ?252.14

AMD build:

CPU AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core £109.98
CPU Cooler Zalman CNPS9700 LED Ball Bearing (Amazon UK Override) £31.18
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ £50.50
Memory Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 £60.87
Total cost: £252.53

Which one do you much more knowlegeable folk think would be better for gaming, I play strategy and the occasional FPS mainly though i avoid the CoD games and suck at Battlefield, and better for future upgradeability. If the two choices there clash which one, in your opinion, would be the better choice. I've looked at benchmarks and there's little between the two CPUs and it'll be at least 18 months before I look to upgrade my CPU.

I currently have an ATI Radeon 1GB 5770 GPU which i plan on upgrading in a few months, an XCLIO 3060+ ATX case, and a 580W Hiper PSU (I don't understand why they're tier 5 btw, it's served me very well for over 5 years but that's not important here) and my brother is buying me a SanDisk Pulse 120GB SSD for christmas. yay!

I'll say a thank you in advance for any replies though my response will unfortunately be delayed, my boss wants me to do some actual work today. cheeky fellow ;-)

Cheers :)

I would go for the Intel processor, the Haswell series is an AMAZING one, with a 3d transistor patent, making the system so much more potent alot with cutting back watts and heat.
This is a great product and Intel is still taking pride for making those high-end processors - AMD always had heat problems in my book.

Cheers guys. I was leaning towards the Intel but a few friends were recommending the AMD so I figured this was the best place to ask such a question :)

P.S. there's no preference in the solution picked as the answer was more or less the same from both of you gents
