Hey,

I recently built a new computer and recently my PSU has started to run extremely loudly which may be due to the fan spinning fast. It happens at completely random times though, it can be idling and start to spin up very fast but other times I can be playing a game such as BF4 with no problems.

I'm unsure whether this is definitely down to the PSU, is there anything else which can be causing the PSU to increase fan speed (problems with other components)? I'd like to know if there's anything else I can check for which could be causing the problem before I try to send off for a new PSU.

If it's of any importance the PSU is facing fan down, in a Corsair 300R (bottom air intake) and my temperatures are fairly low CPU 29 °C and GPU 34 °C.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

make sure that you are not putting the pc on a carpet. that can cause the psu to overheat. also, what are the specs of the rest of your pc?

It's on my laminated wooden desk with nothing underneath it.

Specs:
Intel i5 4670K (Not OCed)
Gigabyte R9 280X (not oced)
MSI Z87-G55
8GB Corsair RAM
