I just did a clean install of 7 yesterday, but now i have a few problem

1. My XPS 15 L502X, it will go to sleep but i cannot wake up. The power button is on, and all the light is on plus the fan is running. but blank screen.

2. I cannot change my homepage on either IE and firefox. My IE homepage is stuck at dell.com
and my firefox is stuck at orginal firefox "google" homepage. I tried to change both, but as soon as I close the Browser and reopen it. it will back to the same one.
However, i could change Chrome homepage to whatever i want tho
(Noted, I did not have chrome installed before the clean win 7 reinstall)

3. I just noted a lot of my old file from previous window install still at C:
I thought clean install would clean that up.

If I want to clean up the whole HDD (at least the C: part). Can i get a step by step of clean install?

thanks

P.S. I did update the BIOS to from A6 to A12 (the newest)

Solution
after reinstallation of os, make sure you have installed all the latest drivers (chipset, graphics )
-for graphics you need to install from dell support site only and now from windows updates that should fix the issue

Hi, if you see a folder by name "windows.old" then it means that you dint do a clean install of OS. however in order to do a clean OS , if your using a DVD to re-install , when you come across the partition screen, make sure you delete all the entries , such that your left with only one entry "unallocated space" , keep it highlighted and then click next or continue. you would get a prompt saying that the data would be lost, and do you still want to continue,so say yes or next and that should inititate the installation of OS .

Method 2:
Since its a dell, you will have a image of os installed on the hdd,
-restart your computer, tap f8 and get into "repair your computer" option and then come to the page where you have all the recovery tools, you will find an option that says "Dell datasafe local and emergency backup". choose that and now choose the option that says " other backup or advanced options"(usually the second option), you will be asked to choose an image and you will find one in the list as "Factory image" choose that and click next and this process will not only do the partitioning for you but also will install OS and also the drivers with few basic applications that the computer first came up with.

Try the above and let me know how did it go
