Why? Everything was fine, until today when I got home from school... I've got a 2004 laptop with 945GM chipset, 512MB RAM and Celeron 1.6GHz CPU, I know it's pretty bad, but I don't know why the performance suddenly want down so much... I look in the task manager, I don't know what laggs my laptop, these are the tasks:
svchost.exe
avgcsrvx.exe
alg.exe
wmiapsrv.exe
avgcsrvx.exe
avgrsx.exe
explorer.exe
spoolsv.exe
avgwdsvc.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
avgemcx.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
avgnsx.exe
svchost.exe
Isass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
avgidsagent.exe
wuaclt.exe
firefox.exe
Monitor.exe
taskmgr.exe
System
Leerlaufprozess
I did defragmentation, cleaning and getting rid of history and cookies, nothing helped.

Your machine is:
1. Running Windows Update
2. Running AVG (which is scanning the system)

Even a fast XP machine will slow to a crawl when both of these are running. Get the updates done, and tell AVG it does not need to scan so often.

I disabled Windows Update, it fixed the problem.
