It appears that you can use the Samsung display as an external display for for your Apple product (assuming a MacBook, Mini, or Mac Pro) via the HDMI-IN port on the Samsung. However, I see no way to use the touch screen functions. This is likely handled internally on the Samsung via a USB interface.

What Apple device are you trying to attach to the Samsung?

The HDMI interface only carries audio and video signals. Most touch screen technology is actually very mouse like (sort of like a big touchpad). On the Samsung, the display likely connects directly to a USB header on the motherboard (for the touchscreen functions). The USB ports on the motherboard would not give you direct access to this device.

Just to clarify this is then impossible? No software or hardwear fix could achieve what I'm after?
For example if I put a hackintosh on the all in one and get a driver to get touch working on that could I then plug an external apple product on?
I believe this will work on Microsoft products at the moment

A external Mac would have no way to interface with the touch screen period. For that the Mac would need to know that the touch screen is even there. With just a HDMI in there is no way for the Mac to even know there is a touch Screen present.

As far as installing a Hackintosh that would only work if there were drivers available for the Touch Screen interface in OS X and I doubt very much that there are.

And even if the Touch Screen is connected to a USB port on the motherboard and you could add a extension cable to it and run it to the Mac there is still no guarantee that the Mac would even have drivers that would work with and most likely there will not be.

I've spoken with a guy from touch base.
He said that if I got a hackintosh on the machine then they will have or can easily produce a driver to run the touch interface with the Mac OS

With that in mind does your comment still stand, you lost me a tad

Not without cracking open the Samsung, finding the touchscreen cable (could be proprietary) and connecting that interface to an external system. Via the HDMI-IN port on the Samsung, you already have a audio/visual interface.

Have you considered just getting a standard touch-enabled monitor?
