how can i make my Minecraft run better?

my friends computer only has 2 gigs more ram than me but he gets 200fps somehow he brought his MC down to 1 gig and it still ran at 200fps but i only run around 10-20fps on a 4gig ram laptop whats the deal here? please can someone tell me?

Well first as Chugot9218 explained the RAM doesn't mean that much when it comes to FPS in games as much as the CPU and GPU do. What kind of computer are you running? Maybe I or someone else can suggest an upgrade to boost your FPS. As of now with no hardware upgrades a way to boost FPS could be to,
1. Make sure you are on the latest version of Minecraft.
2. Turn down your graphic settings, maybe turn off smooth lighting and turn down the render distance a bit.
3. Get OptiFine! OptiFine is a mod for Minecraft that boosts your FPS and makes your game run much smoother, many people get up to DOUBLE the FPS when using this mod.

best things for laptop performance.

delete all the OEM branded software that came pre installed on the pc.
uninstall all versions of java you have on your pc.
once its uninstalled then run ccleaner file cleaner and registry cleaner multiple times.
then reinstall java, latest version is 8, also if you have 64bit windows make sure you install 64bit java.

also make sure your drivers are up to date.
