I have recently changed from my Radeon 4850 512mb to r9 270x 2gb overlcock edition but my FPS is the same if not slightly worse. Any reason why this might happen I have the Acer predator original with increased ram to 8gb and PCU is still the AMD 2.4 quad core original.

Any ideas would be Great

No, if the device isn't recognized then it is usually caused by conflicting device drivers or outdated video drivers completely. If you still had an older catalyst driver for your 4850 and just put in your R9 270, then there is no updated information to tell the computer that a newer graphics card is installed, especially if the R9 270x isn't in your previous driver files.

What PC World probably did was just update your video card drivers.

I know this has nothing to do with what you just said, and I unfortunately cannot help you with that. But can you tell us what games you play? Because if it is CPU intensive you may be bottlenecked, although it's unlikely.

Everything is fine, trust me :) The .NET 4.0/3.5, etc.. is a typical windows install. It is usually recommended to install those to allow other programs to function properly. What I recommend you do is install all the windows updates and install/re-install the Catalyst beta drivers.

You are fine, you just have to install additional software for the catalyst software to work properly.

Did you do a windows update after a clean install? What Windows OS are you running?
