Blue screens with 1600mhz

Hello i have i5-2500k and mobo p8z77-v lk and memory 2x4GB Crucial DDR3 4GB Dimm 1600MHz Ballistix Tactical
but when i set bios to default memory is working 1333? why ? and when i put it 1600Mhz i get blue screen freezing turn off my computer ? why how can i get my memory default valution 1600?

Check that you have the latest BIOS - your 2500K should be fine with this DRAM (I run 32GB of 2133/9 on my 2500K), get the latest BIOS, enable XMP and select profile 1...if any problem try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05, if still problems, may want to run memtest on each stick (4-5 passes)

Have you already installed windows?
From my experience I bsoded at 1600 with xmp. I disabled xmp for the instalation of windows and then reenabled it after. Everything worked fine that way for me :)

4770k, Asus Maximus VI Hero, and 8 gigs of corsair vengeance ddr3 ram (currently at 1600 with cl 7) I had to go down to 1333 with cl 9 to install windows. Newer stuff so might not be valid for the op

ok u say i set bios options to default then install new and clear windows with all drivers and then i go and enable XMP and nothing else you do ?

can u please tell me which drivers i have to download and install ? mobo p8z77-v lk ? and for my graphics ? radeon hd 7770 oc

Don't use the auto detect feature for the Asus site, I have that same board and it will give you the drivers/bios for the P8Z77-V version not the V LK version and they won't install be sure to actually search for your board. I know the issue existed as recently as 2 weeks ago still.
