using ICare recover data, 45 hours now, scanned 46661 sectors, found 4990 files so far, slowly but surely, but its going to take a lot longer, is this normal,? or maybe is there a faster way to do it? I'm patient, but would appreciate any ideas, thanks in advance.

my computer said I need to format disc before I can use it, it is full of files, pics, movies etc, which I don't mind losing, WD is running smoothly, eg: quiet, not over heating, checked properties, ''this device is working properly" not sure what to do or think, you could be right rgd1101, but recovery is running smoothly, just taking for ever. probably has corrupted files in there, in which case I would have no idea if the WD has gone down the gurgler.

WD drive is now clean, been to disk manager, it shows up, but says WD,has to be initialized, so I click on it, so now it refuse to because of an I/O error, feeling frustrated, any ideas any-one? thanks heaps if you have.
