If my CMOS battery is dead will I lose all the info in my laptop?
My laptop was working great last night and today when I turned it on it wouldn't boot up. I removed the battery (which is fairly new) and when I re-installed it my laptop came up. The date and time were reset to Jan 1, 12:01 A.M. I got a "CMOS Battery dead" error message. My question is, If I turn the laptop off and the battery dies out, will I lose all the information in my hard drive? Help is much appreciated. EDIT: email removed by Moderator

No. The CMOS battery state has nothing to do with whatever is on the hard drive.
