Hey guys and girls,

So I recently built a computer and i seems to be running well.
I have a few questions with the BIOS updating and the driver updating. My question is should i flash update the BIOS? Is it worth it? if so were do i go to find the software, because I can't seem to find it.
I have an ASUS Z87-PRO Mobo, so any help with that would be great. maybe if there is a way fro me to check if it already has the latest update? I mean I received it a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the help!

If flashing the BIOS is new to you, you're better off leaving it as-is for now... if everything is working as it should.
All your MB drivers should be found here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PRO/#support The ones listed will be the newest... at least newer than the ones on the DVD that came with the MB.
There should be no reason to update any SSD/HDD drivers. Windows takes care of that.

ok so would you recommend I update it using a different method? So id be fine to just go on with the last bits of fine tuning in the BIOS and then loading my OS and updating my drives?

When you say updating your drives, you must mean updating your drivers. If so, yes. Install the OS and then install the MB drivers... either from the DVD or the website. When you have them done, go online to Windows Update and have it install the latest updates. I recommend turning off AUTOMATIC updating in the beginning and have it just search for updates and let you decide to install them. That way it won't be doing it in the background without your knowledge of what is being installed. I like to leave it in that mode so it won't be installing crap I don't want... like Bing and its toolbars.

Ok cool, thanks so much!

Also i notice, you have a Hyper 212? I do too and i was wondering is a fan speed of about 570-610 at idle is ok? its below the BIOS "preset speed" which is 600.

I'm not on that PC right now, and I don't remember what its speed is at idle. But if you have it connected to the CPU_FAN header, it will be fine. The MB will take care of speeding it up when necessary. More important is the temp of your CPU.
