i'm having a problem with upgrading my gpu. i've tried a 660, a 460, and a 650... NONE of them will work, when trying to post i get the vga card fail message HELP{ what gives ???

Solution
well as I see it if the 7900 works stay with it for now but the board in question has a notorious issue with the fan on the I believe it to be the south bridge or chipset and once that is damaged it is down hill from there. Given the age of the hardware you may have gone the gamut with what you can do, and replacement may be your only option.

this is an older model 939 motherboard though it supports PCI-e ans SLI , the newer cards available may be to much for the system to handle, also you need to consider the power supply as that will play a big role on what you can do as well. what are your system specs and what card are you replacing ?

yeah i know its older but i've got 4 gb ram, the 4800+ toledo cpu, running vista 64, got a corsair 750 psu w/ 62 amps on the 12v rail. i thought that i could at least be able to upgrade and get by for a while before i built a new system. running a 7900 gt card now, had an 8800 sli set-up before, thats why i cant figure out WHY it wont post now.
