No. There is some backwards compatibility among Socket AM2, AM2+, AM3, and AM3+, but AM2 cpus are not backwards compatible with socket 754 (for one thing, AM2 cpus have 940 pins)
the short answer is no the pin configuration on the CPU itself is totally different. sorry if you have an AM 2 cpu and a 754 board it is not going to work.
