I am using Ubuntu and Win 7 x64 as dual boot. I have partitoned my 1 TB normal(no SSD) HD as follows in that same order.
30GB for Ubuntu (primary partition)
70GB for Win 7(primary)
and the rest as 4 logical partitions of 250GB ,250GB,170 GB,170GB. I use my drives for games, documents and videos.
Is this an efficient way of partitioning?

Solution
Efficient? I wouldn't. $60 for another 1TB or 2TB drive would be a better use of time/money.
1 for OS's, and one for applications+games+data.

If you're a heavy gamer, 250GB will feel squeezed before too long. Same if you have a lot of video.

Ok , would it help if I kept the logical partition as a whole. I partitioned just for the sake of it. And would any virus attack disrupt the entire logical partitions or any particular drive as such in case I need to format a drive.?

Normally the worst case scenario is a rootkit, this embeds in the root of the HDD, so it doesn't matter what partitioning you have it is infected / damaging, and the ONLY solution is a TOTAL wipe of the drive in most cases (if it is that bad of a infection). Realistically if you want your Data seperate from the OS, use multiple physical drives, it is cheap these days to do it and cases normally have room for four drives anyway.
