Can't connect wi-fi Hotspot between Dell Inspiron 1545 and Htc Desire S android mobile

Hi guys,
I am Manish. I have Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with windows 7. I switched on WiFi hotspot on my HTC Desire S mobile phone. I then selected control panel --- hardware n sound --- add a device. Windows shows that it is searching for device but doesn't show any even after half an hour. I am not able to use hotspot. Please help.

wifi hotspot works by using the phone as a router between its Phone network and wireless connections, you need to connect to it using wifi rather than usb.

you need to use tethering to connect to the internet using the phone and a usb connection.
