i relaced the power jack on my acer aspire but now when i power it up all i get is a black screen

sounds like you didn't hook something back up right, or you broke a cable or something taking it apart.

do you have an external monitor to test with?>

OK !!!! i found a problem but not sure itn is "the " problem..... if i had a diagram that labled what the componets on the mother board were called i could get another one.. It is a blue disc the size of a quarter with two pins protruding from it to solder to the board.. What ever this is one of the pins are broken off ... looks like a blue watch battery but larger... any idea what this is , and what it is called , and would this cause my screen to be blank? I very much appreciate the help ... i should have never tried to repair this myself.... im electrician but obviously not computer repair. i just need to try and fix this sson.
