i have a fujitsu v5535, can you please suggest a linux distro that could work on this laptop

Hi,
i have a Fujitsu v5535 which is about 5 years old, i am looking to change to linux, and found out that ubuntu is not compatible with this laptop especially due to the screen resolution, could you please suggest a linux distro that can be compatible. i currently have windows xp as the OS. since i am new to linux kindly suggest sumthing that is not too difficult.to install

It's possible that a newer, 13.10, Ubuntu will work, or a copy of Mint. Download them and see if they work from the dvd. It's a question of the SiS driver which can be installed manually but I'd try a new mint or ubuntu first before those gymnastics.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS works best for me on all ex XP machines. The newer LTS (U13?) has never yet worked for me! I notice another response refers to Sis graphics - not very well supported especially the 65X/M650/740 chip - no video and constant crashes with this chip and linux (not just ubuntu)!
