I'd say you need to do both, buy 4gb ram and hd 7770 if you wan't to play new games at reasonable settings. So think of upgrading both. But if you wan't only one answer then I would get hd 7770 but looking at new games which you can't play on 2 gb ram, you really need atleast 4 gb ram. It's really hard to answer as it depends on games. But my answer is to upgrade them both.

I can buy only one of those right now. So should I just get hd 7770 for now and upgrade to 4gb RAM later?

yep, go for the 7770 first, and upgrade the ram later.. but to be able to play the next gen games, youll be needing a minimum of 4gb ram :D

EDIT: whats your current ram? cant you grab another stick of that and still get the 7770, I saw a cheap 7770 by powercolor yesterday on pc part picker, can you tell me how much is your budget?

Three quick questions: what games are you currently playing, what games are you planning to add over the next few months, & what current RAM do you have (DDR2/DDR3, # of sticks, & speed)?

If you're currently playing (or planning to play) GPU-intensive games, then upgrading the graphics card is definitely the best first step for boosting performance. However, if your games are more CPU-intensive, then upgrading your RAM will not only improve your game performance but also speed up the system overall -- especially if you're not running dual-channel RAM right now.

so buy hd 7770 now, and then upgrade your ram to 4gb ASAP.
