I really don't know which is better I have never used either. I have only used a 6870 and a 5870 and a 6670 from AMD. I really don't see hoow the 7850 is better than an OC'd version of the 6970. I was offered to buy 2 6970's for a cheap but I hope someone could shed some light that has used those two cards...

I ran 2 6950's ( 2gig ) together. ran fine got great performance but you system should be good enough to take advantage of them.

I would like to save up and get an R9 290 though i have noticed when they first came out they were around 400-450 plus tax. now on newegg they are 500+ and the 290x is 600+. The more i learn about mantle the more I want the r9 290. I have changed my gpu 4 times this year already but was able to break even some of the time. I was looking at the 6970's for an AMD build I am working on but won't be finished for spring if I buy a new GPU which is first on the list second is a 1440p monitor. I know the r9 290 will be able to take over there and crush my GTX 770
