I have a Gigabyte Z68XP-D3 motherboard, and when I had a look at it, there was a label stating that it uses PCI Express 2.0.

However I'm intending to buy a graphics card (Powercolor Radeon HD7870 GHz Edition OC 2GB ), where the specs for it state "Bus Standerd: PCIE 3.0"

Will it work fine with the motherboard?

Thanks in advance.

Is there any significant adverse affect? Like loss of performance?

nope there is 0% performance loss sir, as much as some beleive there is, there is no performance drop even going from 2.0x to 3.0x doesnt add anything.
