Hi Folks, having made a traggic error in judgement in buying an Alienware....and it's now busted not a year on...I'm building my new rig myself....got the case (Cooler Master Cosmos 2)....

Getting the PSU next and want to get the red power cables to match my mother board choice (Asus Rampage IV....so just wanted to check that these are the correct ones to order;

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-individually-sleeved-modular-cable-upgrade-kit-for-the-pro-series-gold-ax1200-psus-red

And more to the point, other than asthetics, are there any other advantages to getting these over the cables that come with it...does the sleeves allow more severe bends and twists ?

Cheers
GoM

Nope, they are identical to the black set that comes with the PSU (AX1200i Pro), other of course than the color. If would give you some extra cables if you ever needed any. That's about it.

If you paint the PSU red, be very careful to cover all openings with something good like 3M blue painters tape and let it dry well before removing the tape. Take the time to very accurately cover with nice straight lines. Also take off the fan cover and paint it separately. I've used a flexible Krylon spray paint to paint power cables (just don't get any paint into the ends that actually connect. It works pretty well unless you are constantly flexing them.

Hm...you sure about that?
I thought the stock cables aren´t individually sleeved.

Sorry, did not mean to imply the stock cables are sleeved -- they are not, just electrically equivalent, I do have a set of black sleeved cables that I used on one, looked very nice.

Thanks for the replies....given the overall spend of the build, I'll just get them....can't afford to start the build until end of Jan..but should have all bits by then !
