I need help I have a new Xfinity wireless router and would like to also use my old Linksys WRT160N router as the xfinty one frequently drops. I would like to connect my old Linksys WRT160N router to my new Xfinity wireless modem and have access to both. But I can't configuer the Linksys modem using IP 192.168.1.1 - it won't come up on any of my computers.

Thats because you only have one IP address from your ISP(Xfinity) so the first router connected to the phone line(im guessing its dsl) takes that IP so that when you connect your router it can't use that IP because its already taken.

So how can I change an IP address- since this is an older model I would think I would have to change the IP on the newer Xfintity model - knowing Comcast they will be no help with this.

To be honest i don't think you can. Because your modem would have to be plugged into the phone line instead of the xfinity one. I imagine your router doesn't have a phone port. Thats one of the reasons i chose not to have charters wireless, just wanted to modem to use with my wireless router.
