I'm looking for a method by which i can attach 10..24..32..64... maybe some other unrealistically high amount of hard drives to one system. Really 32 would probably be the max, but im interested in just how many one machine could support.

Really i'm trying to make a kind of "monster" storage box.

What kind of tech does this usually involve? Ive been trying my google-fu but cant seem to find much regarding hard drive limitations or how to attach more drives than one mobo has sata ports.

Imagine building a custom PC with a desktop motherboard and trying to connect... 256tb of storage to it.
