Remove Windows 7

Hi all,

Just built a desktop and installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. However, I'd like to remove Windows completely and bring my desktop to a state as if I had just built the pc and haven't installed any OS on it. How can I do this?

I'd like to remove it completely without having to use a separate OS installation disc. I've seen a method posted where you can boot Windows in safe mode, access the command prompt and then uninstall with a DEL WINDOWS command. However, I've only seen this when referencing Windows XP. Does anyone know if this can be done with Windows 7?

you could just format your hard drive or install a new hard drive on the machine and then reinstall the new OS and drivers. Backup all your files first onto a different hard drive.

You can use any number of "live CDs" like the Hirens BootCD or Gparted to format the drive and remove everything on the HDD. See below for links:

Hello... Just boot with a Windows Install Disk, Custom Install, and use the Advanced Drive options, to delete all the partitions, with it... then just shut off/re-boot your computer, without the Install Disk. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-1_10.htm

Hello... try it... But im sure Windows 7 and Windows 8 don't un-install themselves completely... fast easy and complete is a partition delete on the drive.

I don't think Win 7/8 will allow you to delete the default active partition where Windows is installed from the CMD prompt, even in safe mode. The previous methods are more feasible.
