I'm not very tech snazzy, but I'm going to try to build my own PC soon. I have everything laid out, but I'm not quite sure about how much fans I need to buy.

Since my case (Thermaltake Black Commander MS-II Mid tower) holds 5 fans, and my CPU and VGA comes with there own fans, does that leave 3 fans slots available, or does the CPU and VGA fan go in its own slot. Thanks for taking time to read this.

Solution
No you will have 5 case fan slots available, the CPU cooling fan will be mounted on the motherboard over the processor and if you are using a PCI-e (plug on) graphics card then that will have a cooling fan built on. Those 2 components will not take up any of the case fan slots. Its up to you how many slots you use but 1 minimum is recommended at the rear of the case (the more fans you have the more noise your machine will make). The usual setup for case fans is as follows: Front fans are intake, bottom is intake and top and rear are exhaust. More fans means better air flow and a cooler system (good cable management will also help).
