Hello everyone.
I recently bought a new pc, and want to install my old SATA harddrive (from my previous pc) as a secondary drive.
Now.. Since this old drive also has an OS installed (windows 8.1, just as the new system), how can i avoid trouble when installing it? I don't want to be able to boot this OS, I just want to access the programs and files on the harddrive, while booting from the primary harddrive.

Thanks in advance.

Connect it up, your existing OS will still boot as it doesn't know about Win8.
The old hdd may need to be put online with the disk manager and assigned a drive letter.
Your should then be able to access the existing files, if not use this zip to install right-click option to reset security permissions to your account.

Once you have your files, format the old drive for future use.
