I was playing Darksiders and also saw this in other hack/slash games, the movement was so stupid and unrealistic.
its when you move forward the moment u touch A or S ur character turn to a 30° angle in a jerking movement and comes back the same way it did before
i saw this for AC3, and many other games , even with a joystick.

obviously its a simple trio angular direction. even if u dont use WASD and use joystick on PC when ur turn the joystick to 30° its just u holding W+S
not even an extra angle between them.

i used to play on PS2 and i didn't notice this stupid movement there. when u wanted to change direction it was so smoothly and ur character's turn was in a circle.

i kinda regret the money i put on PC, i could buy 2 PS4 and 3 XBOXone with it
now i can't buy neither, whats the use of that eye killing graphic when u're moving like a 2D DOS game
am i the only one bothered with these or you guys kinda came to deal with it

Most people playing these sort of games on a PC use a mouse for turning and the WASD keys for forward, back and strafe.
Joystick will work much better in a flight sim.

It just has to do with differences in control schemes. When using just the keyboard, when you press multiple keys at once, they don't get processed at the same time. You end up with it switching back and forth between the two keys you pressed. Most people who use keyboard and mouse use the mouse to point the character a certain direction and then use the keyboard just for forward/backward movements.

I find it hard to understand what you're saying. I've never had issues with jerky movement in PC games. I don't really know what control scheme you have going on. I, and the vast majority of people use the following:

WASD = up, down, strafe left and strafe right. (I use ESDF, but same difference).
Mouse = turn, look up, look down.

This control scheme has never let me down and has never been jerky or touchy.

The other option is to use a control pad, like the 360 controller. However, in FPS/strategy games that is not ideal. It is ok for some adventure/racing/piloting etc... games.

If you paid $2300 for your computer (2 x PS4 ($800) and 3 x Xbone ($1500), not including taxes) then you got ripped off based on the system in your profile. However, I'm guessing that comment was just to troll.

im in a different country buddy, and yeah u used the exact term, ripped off, happens when ur country is in sanctions anyway
u didn't get what i was saying, i meant, on keyboard u only have 5 directions in front of you, but on consoles there's a circle in front of you (just so y'know: my rig ended up 14m T, which is an automatic car's price in here)
things priced differently when they're in sanction

Geez, that sucks that you get hosed like that. I assumed you were just angry and venting.

Ok, so if I understand correctly it's only the wasd (movement, not looking) part that is bothering you. A thumb stick gives you varying degrees of moving+strafing with one thumb stick whereas the keyboard gives you either straight, straight and strafe, or strafe.

Once you get used to the combination of keyboard for movement and mouse for looking around the possibilities are endless. You should be able to push W+D for moving forward and strafing to the right at the same time, once you add in the mouse to adjust your aim it works perfectly well. It's a little more involved but the end process is a bit more precise. However, I understand how it can be a bit tricky to get the movement down at first. I think it's just something you learn as you get along.

Again, the 360 controller for most games is a great alternative. It has native plug and play support for windows so it requires very little setup.
