Okay. so hers the just of my problem. i am about to recieve the Alienware m17 r1 (not the m17x.) and it comes with the standard intel core 2 duo 2.27ghz (PGA988 - P6300) which can be seen here at (http://ark.intel.com/products/51680/Intel-Pentium-Processor-P6300-3M-Cache-2_27-GHz), i hate that processor. i mean this is alienware and that processsor could barely even run gta iv on low graphics. well i pla way more than just gta iv. i play games that are very cpu intensive like ARMA 3. well what i did is looked up a new restoration on this same type of laptop and found out that it can take a q9000 mobility quad core 2.0ghz. im worried that i wasted 60.00 on it cause of some kind of problem that may come up from it. like bios errors or mother board errors or anything. so if anyone can help ease my mind on if this processor will work or not then id be happy as can be, ill post the specs for all the serials and everything below.

any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

well i know with that generation of cpus, that alot of the boards at least on the desktop side only took core 2 duos, but being a laptop it may have needed a bios update to take the newer cpu, so u may have to reinstall the old one and see if there is a bios update or if dell can help u out if u cant find a bios or see if its officially supported
