EVGA Geforce GTX760 driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.

So I have gateway pc that i got few years ago

and I wanted to upgrade the graphics card and power supply so i bought gtx 760 2Gb ddr 5 graphics card http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHW4HXY/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and Corsair CX750 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RJZQSW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I replaced the power supply first and then i replaced the graphics card. When i started the computer and ran the CD to download the drivers i got this message "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware", I tried so many different things to fix it and still no luck.
I did uninstall the old graphics card drivers, and also disabled the integrated graphics card and still no luck. Even went into BIOS to try and turn it off from there but i had no choice at all to do so. The fans on it are working but that's about it... can't get it to be detected.
Also -- I switched back to the GTX 440 and it was detected instantaneously...
Anyone know what could be the reason why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Leave the GT 440 in and download/install the latest driver (320.49 or up), then try swapping in the 760

Tried it and when i swapped in the 760 it was still not detected and it switched back to the integrated graphics.

Yeah, it's odd but sometimes OEM mobos have compatibility issues with newer cards, if you can find a BIOS update go for it

Well that's a shame, that's another reason to dislike OEM mobos :lol:

If you have a spare rig or a friend's machine to test on that'd be a good start

If that doesn't work then go ahead and RMA

I'd at least try RMA'ing it first :S, a new mobo would also require a fresh reinstall of windows so that'll be quite a fuss

It should, I'd check the placement inside the case first though

If it turned out that the card itself had a problem, then it would be a waste of getting another mobo wouldn't it?

Yea, that'd be the way to go, EVGA has some of the best customer support around thankfully

In regards to checking your current mobo placement (how many screws your current mobo uses, how many standoffs there are etc.)

Your current mobo is an ATX board so a micro ATX board should technically fit in your case, though I'm not sure about the standoff placement in your OEM case

I have been struggling with this from 9 am, thank you for all the help. Ill just wait to hopefully get replaced graphics card and if it still doesn't work then ill start researching the motherboards and hopefully get one that will work
