Is it just fine to install windows 8.1 on old version of motherboards?

Motherboards today says they are window 8 ready Im curious if i installed window 8.1 on a motherboard that doesn't mention windows 8 is just fine..

Sorry, im away from home and cannot pull the mobo model

The board doesn't need to be certified for windows 8 to be able to run it. Newer boards would have EFI bios which enables secure boot but Windows 8 can run without that. What you might need to look for is drivers: Windows may pick up a lot of the drivers on machines slightly older than the release date of that Windows version out of the box or through Windows Update though you still may want to check that the board you have has driver support for 8 at it's support site if you wanted to install it.
