Hello guys,

My friends and I just built a computer, the specs are posted below. The problem is that when installing the driver for the graphics card (filename: 13-9_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql) the installation fails.

I have provided the report hoping someone can help me. Help appreciated,
Regards.

Specs:
Graphics Card: Asus Radeon HD 7870
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT - USB3.0
Processor: AMD FX 8320 Eight - core processor
RAM: Corsair 8 GB
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
500W PSU

What exactly failed? As far as I can tell everything that was installed was a success. I did see at the bottom of the report were it says "install package failure!". But as far as I could tell the drivers themselves install correctly.

Have you checked to see if the card is working correctly? I have had this sort of thing happen to my two AMD/ATI rigs before were the installer will report that it failed but yet it was installed and working correctly I am not really sure why but it has happen from time to time. Does Device Manager show any problems with the Display Adapter?

You may need to go back and pick 'custom ' install. If there is a driver set previously (if the folder remained after uninstall) it may just need to update a few things and that custom will allow you to check what's installed and what needs updating. I had this happen to me as I installed the 9.5 beta drivers for the 270x because device driver failed the first time, but after I chose 'custom' the 2nd time around I was allowed to pick it from the list and all went well.
