AMD Phenom II X6 1090T too old or still gold?

I'm currently using the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.
It goes along just fine with my system, but I'm wondering if it's getting too old, and is in need of an upgrade.
Or is it still a good CPU that will run most (if not all) new games just fine?

PCU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5
MB: MSI 990FXA-GD80, Socket-AM3+
RAM: 8GB
PSU: Corsair RM750, 750W

I asked the same question with my oc'd x6, and running basically a 280x i see no problems, and at stock u may get slight bottleneck but would be fine. I was tempted to get the 8320 as its on sale at the moment for $140 and i have another am3 system that can take my x6 or the fx with a bios update if needed like my CHIVF. My cpu handles bf4 on ultra with about 70fps and cpu at about %85 while playing.

U should have no issue overclocking if u do not already do so. Also u could go with an fx cpu as from what it looks like amd is stepping away from high performance desktop parts for at least a year as their roadmap shows no new fx cpus only apus. When they do finally release new cpus probably will not be compatible with am3+.

Would I need a better psu for the 8320?
Considering my gpu needs 600 alone

yes, your processor is bottlenecking and slightly hold back your real card performance..

it's time to overclock it..with a decent cooler, 3.8-4.0 is the sweet spot for thuban core..

and your board is more than capable to run that processor and bring it to hit the brick wall of phenom II architecture..4.2Ghz.

well, newer games is more gpu dependent..that's means the delta performance between your processor and the fastest AMD processor available today is just around 10fps...

as long as you get 60+ fps in games, is nothing have to worried..

Would not need a new psu for the 8320 as its still a 125watt cpu ur set and u can even crossfire yet with an OC . the 280x recommends 600watts for whole system if thats wat ur refereing too

your gpu is not use 600w..that's a recommended value from vendor, and this number usually too big than it's really need..

well, let's see..
a system equipped with r 280x/7970 actually just consume less than 360w for total power consumption while gaming..

So, your psu is more than enough for "just" fx8320..
even you can run 2x r9280x in crossfire mode with that psu..
