I recently installed an evga sc gtx 780 in my xps 8500 (specs listed below) and after installation, the 780's fan started spinning and the computer booted up, but the gtx logo on the card did not light up and the monitor wasn't detecting a card. I connected the monitor to the card with a Dvi cable. Any suggestions on why?

SPECS: i7-3770@3.5 ghz, 8gb@1600mhz, corsair CX750M@750 watts, intel H77 chipset, 1pci-e x16 3.0, 1tb hdd, gtx780 superclocked.

Thanks, but I figured it out myself. It was because the monitor was set to look for VGA and I should have set it to look for DVI!

So your GTX780 is working properly now? I have a XPS 8500 too, would you please share what's the model number of the GTX780 you use?
