Hey everyone, I have recently been playing skyrim and it's been lagging pretty bad. The game preset my settings to ultra. I have a radeon hd 7870. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help.

Some of the lighting ENB's and texture mods can wreak havoc on performance like turok said. I ran into major headaches with my last videocard (560Ti) with the realistic lighting and darker nights mods, took me from around 70FPS down to around 20. When I tried to remove it the game would crash when entering dungeons. Had to reinstall the game or the mod to get it working right again, went with the former. I recommend using Nexus Mod Manager if you are not already, if you use a lot of mods (like I do).

You might try dropping the object & terrain distance and/or shadows if you don't want to use a resolution that is not native for your monitor.

Mods tend to slow down the game drastically even on the best of systems. I would advise removing the mods and either loading a save with game content from before you attached the mods or remove the mods and start over on a new game. Once mods are placed onto a saved game, even if they've been removed, the game will either lag or have crashes. This occurs even on the best of systems.

Many times, some mods aren't compatible with each other while the game is running.

If lagging still persists you might want to change your resolution and see what frame rates you get.

After reinstalling (and upgrading my GPU) I have not tried it with the ENB's again, though now that I have some time off work that is on my list of tests. I can say that with just the texture mods in place I have no trouble hitting 60FPS at 1920x1080 Ultra (V-Sync on + max everything). I really want to play with the ENB's though, they look gorgeous even if I have relived the story half a dozen times through multiple viewpoints.
