how easy is it to transfer casing?

Solution
you should (if possible) keep the ram, cpu and cooler plugged on the motherboard else you will need to reapply the thermal paste. easiest if they are compatible is to take the motherboard together with the backplate from one case to another and just replug the gpu, psu , case and all drive connectors.

it can be a bit of work, but in theory nothing can go wrong.

It's just like putting a computer together, only you have to do it twice, and once in reverse. Taking out the parts would probably be the most challenging part other than that it's easy. Just don't break anything and be careful ;)
