I've had this issue with my desktop for quite a while and have just got round to trying to fix it. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
I have two 500GB WD hard drives connected in RAID0 by an Intel controller on the motherboard. When I boot the computer, one HDD has "Error Occurred(0)" next to it, although at the top of the screen the 1000gb total volume says it's "fine" and "bootable". If I leave it to boot, it goes into the Windows Startup Recovery tool. The steps I have taken so far are:
i) Left the tool to do its thing - not sucesssful
ii) Tried swapping cables around for HDDs and found that it was definitely that specific HDD with the error
iii) Tried listing partitions from command prompt from the startup recovery tools. The 1000GB volume did appear but the file format was RAW and I was unable to cd to it
iv) Tried booting Ubuntu from USB stick and no other HDD showed up
My thoughts so far are that:
i) Could it be a SMART error? Although if this is the case why is it not still booting (I understand SMART is just a waarning, and other people with this error message say they can still boot fine)
ii) If there is some way of making the RAW data meaningful and then backing that up, would that be a possibility?
I think I may have to send it to a data recovery company to see what they think since I didn't do a backup recently on the computer.
Thanks so much for your time!
